Igarashi’s most recent research focuses on the work of “artist-writers” in contemporary art, who have been pioneering practitioners of contemporary art and have also developed distinctive forms of art criticism and theoretical writing. Igarashi graduated from the Correspondence Course of Musashino Art University and completed a Master’s program at the Graduate School of Humanities and Human Sciences, Hokkaido University.

Introduction to Education and Practice Igarashi has previously worked as a part-time art coordinator and public engagement staff at Tenjinyama Art Studio, the only municipal artist residency in Sapporo. Also working as a Japanese–English translator/interpreter, while engaging in her own artistic practice and exhibitions, she has pursued academic research on the interdisciplinary practices in contemporary art.
At CoSTEP, she aims to cultivate and expand rich interpretations of the intersections among science, art, and technology, as well as among these domains and their diverse stakeholders.
